This is not just my question, but was the query typed into a search engine by someone who clearly was well aware of the importance of nano-lipobelle h-eq10. For readers who have not come across this term before let me explain that nano-lipobelle h-eq10 is a special form of Coenzyme Q10 which is a vitamin like substance that is found in all of our body’s cells and is very important for healthy skin. Unlike others this version of CoQ10 is formulated so that it can penetrate deeply into the skin where it is extemely effective in destroying free radicals. It has the added benefit that it also promotes the production of collagen and elastin the two proteins that keep the skin looking smooth and firm.

But the question was “What skincare products contain nano-lipobelle h-eq10?” and the answer is products produced by Xtend-Life and you can find further details on their website.

This may seem like a strange headline, but this is a search term that someone has entered into a search engine to find this blog. Perhaps it’s not so strange after all when you realise that there is a big difference in the way that companies market their skin care products.

The companies whose brands are big household names are well known because they advertise extensively in magazines and on TV. Of course advertising is expensive and you will often find that the costs of promotion may be more than the cost of the ingredients in the product itself.

Lesser known brands tend to promote their anti aging products in different ways and so are able to use more expensive ingredients without having to increase the final cost of their products.

So this is just a gentle reminder that you can’t judge a skin care product by its price alone. Just because it is the most expensive does not mean that it will be the most effective. That is why I recommend products from Xtend Life since they concentrate on the ingredients rather than the promotion.

Articles about skin care and anti aging often talk about antioxidants and free radicals, but do you know what these terms mean? Or should you care? Well the short answer is yes, since both free radicals and antioxidants affect your general health as well as the condition of your skin.

So what are these free radicals? Without becoming too technical just understand that all matter is made up of atoms which consist of electrons. Sometimes an electron can be detached and this causes the atom to become unstable and it is then known as a free radical.

But why should I have to worry about a single atom that has lost an electron? To restore its equilibrium the atom grabs an electron from an adjoining atom and this starts a chain reaction. The end result is damage to your skin.

Antioxidants are the good guys because they are able to lose electrons without becoming unstable and so can neutralize the free radicals.

While free radicals do perform some useful functions in our bodies, excessive numbers can cause tissue damage. Air pollution and cigarette smoke as well as stress encourage the production of free radicals and so should be avoided.

Vitamins C and E are antioxidants so eating a well balanced diet is the easiest way to protect your body from the harmful effects of free radicals.

Male age spots are sometimes called liver spots and so the question is sometimes asked whether they are a sign of liver disease. In fact these spots have nothing to do with the liver and so do not indicate a problem in this direction. The correct name for liver spots is age spots or, if you want to be technical, photoaging spots. Typically they appear as light to dark brown patches on the hands and face as well as the legs and feet. The spots have rounded edges, sometimes appearing singly or in groups like large freckles. There are two known causes of these age spots, excessive exposure to the sun and an inherited tendency to form them.

As with general skin care the best way to prevent the appearance of age spots is to protect yourself from the sun by wearing appropriate clothing and using an effective sunscreen. In the case of hereditary age spots there are no effective preventive measures you can take, although the spots can be removed by the various methods described in other posts. Age spots are not cancerous or precancerous, but spots with uneven rather than rounded edges could be melanoma and should be checked by your doctor.

As we all know the answer is a definite yes. Someone who has smoked for several years is instantly recognizable by their sallow complexion and wrinkled skin. The efeect on the skin is often apparent after only ten years as a smoker and is irreversible.

There are a number of reasons why smoking leads to wrinkles. The blood vessels in the top layer of your skin are narrowed as a result of smoking cigarettes. This reduces the blood flow to your skin, depriving it of oxygen and important nutrients, such as vitamin A. In addition the collagen and elastin fibers which keep your skin firm and smooth are damaged by smoking. This leads to sagging skin and premature wrinkles.

Damage is also caused by the heat from burning cigarettes. In the same way that constant frowning can lead to a wrinkled forehead, pursing your lips when inhaling and squinting your eyes to keep out smoke will have the same effect in other areas of your face.

And it’s not only your face that is affected by the habit. A recent study found that smoking can cause increased wrinkling and skin damage to other areas of your body including the inner arms.

Moles are growths on the skin which should not be confused with age spots. They happen when cells in the skin, called melanocytes, grow in a cluster with tissue surrounding them. Most people have between 10 and 40 moles. A person may develop new moles from time to time, usually until about age 40. About one out of every 10 people has at least one unusual (or atypical) mole that looks different from an ordinary mole. They may be more likely than ordinary moles to develop into melanoma, a type of skin cancer. Because of this, you should have a health care professional check your moles if they look unusual, grow larger, change in color or outline, or in any other way.

There are a number of different ways to get rid of age spots. For a start I would suggest using a cream which will cause the spots to fade over a period of a few weeks. If you want immediate results you acn try chemical peels or the more expensive laser resurfacing treatment.

* Stay out of the sun. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This is when the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays are strongest.
* Use sunscreen. Sunscreens are rated according to a sun protection factor (SPF), which ranges from 2 to 30 or higher. A higher number means longer, stronger protection. Buy products with an SPF of 15 or higher. Also look for products with a label that says: broad spectrum (protects against both UVA and UVB rays) and water resistant (stays on longer, even if you get wet or sweat). Reapply the lotion as needed.
* Wear protective clothing. A hat with a wide brim shades your neck, ears, eyes, and head. Look for sunglasses with a label saying the glasses block 99 to 100 percent of the sun’s rays. Wear loose, lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and long pants or long skirts when in the sun.
* Avoid artificial tanning. Don’t use sunlamps, tanning beds, tanning pills, or tanning makeup. Tanning pills have a color additive that turns your skin orange after you take them. The FDA has not approved this for tanning the skin. Tanning make-up products will not protect your skin from the sun.
* Check your skin often. Look for changes in the size, shape, color, or feel of birthmarks, moles, and spots. If you find any changes, see a doctor. The American Academy of Dermatology suggests that older, fair-skinned people have a yearly skin check as part of a regular physical exam.
