How To Tell Whether Ingredients Are Natural Or Synthetic

If you have read any of the earlier posts you will have noticed that I return again and again to the importance of choosing skin care products that are made from natural ingredients. It seems incredible, but many skin care products are loaded with ingredients that actually harm your skin over time. So it is essential to read the small print on the product label to check the ingredients it contains.

But there is a complication in that some ingredients are natural and some are synthetic, but both have the same scientific name. In this case the name on the label will not enable you to know whether the ingredient is derived from natural materials or synthetic chemicals. For this reason the people at Xtend-Life have published a revised table listing all the ingredients used in their products with both the common name and scientific name of each and details of the natural matter from which each is derived. I was wondering if there was a thing such as anti aging oil that will make my skin beautiful again. I hate my rough, old skin, and I could really use something like an anti aging oil. I just found this query on a Health blog, but there is no answer. My answer would be that of course there are many anti aging skin care products that can improve your appearance and reduce those lines and wrinkles. The problem most people have is knowing how to choose a product that is really effective and will do what it promises.

I noticed today that the old rhyme about An Apple a Day has now been reinvented to promote a product based on “apple stem cells”. “The latest buzz in skincare is a rare Swiss Apple called the Uttwiler Spatlauber. This “Super Apple” is so rare that only 20 trees are in existence. Researchers noted that when these super apples were punctured they healed themselves. They also boast an extremely long shelf life; they last 4 months longer than typical shriveled apples. This rare Swiss Apple has a self-renewal power that rejuvenates aging, saggy skin. Apple stem cells are rich in epigenetic factors and metabolites that assure the longevity of skin cells”.

While I have no inside knowledge of this product, I applaud the use of natural ingredients which I feel are always to be preferred over those made from chemicals. The skin care products that I recommend are made by the Xtend-Life Company which uses all natural ingredients in its creams and lotions.

Anti Wrinkle Doesn’t Advertise

This may seem like a strange headline, but this is a search term that someone has entered into a search engine to find this blog. Perhaps it’s not so strange after all when you realise that there is a big difference in the way that companies market their skin care products.

The companies whose brands are big household names are well known because they advertise extensively in magazines and on TV. Of course advertising is expensive and you will often find that the costs of promotion may be more than the cost of the ingredients in the product itself.

Lesser known brands tend to promote their anti aging products in different ways and so are able to use more expensive ingredients without having to increase the final cost of their products.

So this is just a gentle reminder that you can’t judge a skin care product by its price alone. Just because it is the most expensive does not mean that it will be the most effective. That is why I recommend products from Xtend Life since they concentrate on the ingredients rather than the promotion.

It’s hardly surprising to find that any organic night cream reviewed by an advertising agency claims to be the best. That’s their job to promote the brand of the company that employs them. Clearly if you rely on the advertisements you are going to have a hard job distinguishing between all the different organic night creams on the market.

On the other hand an organic night cream reviewed by an independant expert would include information about the ingredients and the way that they act on your skin to retain its firm and youthful appearance.

Some of the ingredients that I have mentioned before in other posts include shea butter, manuka honey and avocado extract.

While the stores are full of anti wrinkle creams and we are constantly being bombarded by adverts for these products on TV and in the papers, most of these are aimed at women. Anti wrinkle cream for men is not so common, but products are available if you know where to look. But the real question is do they work?

Men’s wrinkle cream can be effective provided you find a product that contains the right ingredients. Products that contain chemicals such as alcohols, fragrances or mineral oils are to be avoided since they can actually be harmful to someone with sensitive skin. Look out for products that contain natural ingredients such as kaolin and manuka honey. If you can find an organic product that contains research proven ingredients, you can quickly be on your way to healthier and younger looking skin.
